First of all these people will have to agree on what constitutes this unchangeable islam.
In actual Islam is not unchanging, and unadapting that is actually the entire reason for the existence of the madhabs, to interpret how islam is practiced under situations unseen before.
Then again the core of Islam is unchanging, but nothing here really precludes it from the western streams of thought. You will have to more specific here to take this up further.
